The few, the proud, the cyberwarrior

marines According to McAfee anyway, the Marines aren’t the only ones recruiting warriors. Echoing the drums beat by CEO DeWalt  over the last few months, McAfee released the report from its Virtual Criminology Report which indicates that politically motivated cyber attacks will continue to escalate over the coming months.  This article on InternetNews.com details that according to McAfee at least 20 countries have been building up their cyber warfare capabilities.

Of course as the article points out, the report is a bit self-serving for McAfee.  Sowing a little FUD is always a good thing in the security business.  And arms merchants always make out well selling to both sides.  But in this case, self-interest aside the threat of cyber war and cyber terrorism is something that we all need to take seriously.

I actually have a great idea for a fiction book on this subject if anyone knows a good literary agent.
