No Java or Flash on the iPhone, whose fault is it?

I was reading an article in Infoworld by Paul Krill that despite pledges of support there will be no iPhone support for Java or Flash on the iPhone in time for Christmas. In fact according to Paul there is no real reason to believe we will see these programs/platforms on the iPhone anytime soon.  Why?

I see two reasons in the article and they are both to blame.  One is the power of the ARM processor that powers the phone. Evidently it is just not powerful enough for Flash but could do Java.  The other reason is Apple's desire to control everything.  Putting Java and Flash on the iPhone would allow publishers to place information without having to go through, be taxed and regulated by Apple.  This is a cardinal sin in the Apple World. So until Apple figures out a way to making a buck and totally controlling anything that could be downloaded to an iPhone via Java or Flash we will not see these apps on the iPhone.  Tsk, tsk, tsk.
