The Endpoint Security Index, honeypot, StillSecure style

SearchSecurity.com on TechTarget, had a good article today on StillSecure's Endpoint Security Index. We first started publishing this index about 4 months ago in SC Magazine.  Since then we continue to watch and learn about what a dangerous place the Internet is.  Much like a honeypot, where you set up machines to invite attack, in our endpoint index machines, we simulate user behavior as we automatically surf through thousands of web sites.  We then analyze what we have picked up and what the various security products on the machines do about it.

February_06 One of the most surprising things is how many times anti-malware or anti-virus software claims to have removed a malicious file, when in fact the file or dangerous parts of it are still resident on the machine.  There are some great graphs and more info on our website on the index and I invite you to take a look.  Also, Mitchel Ashley our CTO did a great job on the interview, explaining how it works to the reporter.
